FAQ

Where do you source your yarn and dyes from?

  • We carefully select our yarns and dyes from British suppliers.

Do you use natural dyes?

  • We use acid dyes, so called because they require the use of citric acid or white vinegar during the dyeing process to allow the dye to adhere to the fibres. At FibrePop we only use citric acid.

How long does it take you to create a custom dye lot and do you provide this service?

  • As long as we have the yarn base you require the process takes about a week. Depending on our availability, we are happy to dye custom requests, however, we may ask for a deposit to fulfil the order.

Why are all bases not available for all colourways?

  • We don't create all colourways on all bases at once, however, if you have a specific request, please contact us.

Where do you deliver to?

  • Please see our Delivery page for more details.

Why don't you show the wool knitted/crocheted up?

  • Every project is different, for example, knitting lace work will have a different effect to knitting stockinette to knitting in moss stitch. Because the numbers of stitches and rows, techniques and tension are going to be different to everyone, we couldn't possibly show every combination of work that can be achieved. We know that buying hand dyed yarns can be a bit of a gamble sometimes, but we do recommend alternating skeins to avoid colour pooling if that's your preference. You don't have to buy 2 separate skeins, you can simply divide the skein into 2 when caking your yarn.

What packaging do you use?

  • All yarn is packaged in a biodegradable cellophane bag inside a biodegradable poly mailer. For larger orders we may use cardboard boxes.
